This Shoes Are Made For Walking

While bloghopping dkt blogserius, stumble upon this blog. Super cute and super creative!

The Eagle (has landed)

What happens when honour is prime? And what happens when history wrote a disgrace in the books of Rome and your family lineage?

This story tells the tale of a comander, working hard to restore Rome's honour and delete the shame inflicted to his family. His father lost the Eagle, a sacred symbol to the honour-crazed Romans, and with that; pissed over the name of his family and decendants. Clad to eliminate the guilt Rome puts on his family and restore glory to the Empire, Commander Aquila heads to his father's last post to seek for the lost Eagle. He enlisted the help of his slave, son of the enemy's dead leader and travels to the unknown world, where no Romans has been before.

This is one epic movie which is simply made without the usual glamed up sets and costumes. Its plot evolved around the master-slave relationship, story of betrayal and fight for glory, is not something new and predictable. The fight scene was in a more smaller scale and the script does not impress you. Plus no hot chic in a toga here.

Go see if:

1. you really wanna know why the Hadrian wall is there all this while, in the Great Britain;
2. you ever feel the need to see a time where Britons are the primitive and barbaric creatures, as opposed to the developed nationals of the Great Roman Empire;
3. you can't wait for the DVD, or
4. you just feel you need to man up with a new war-action movie.

Sini Ada Hantu Lawak

Thanks to the (extension) of Astro First, I managed to watch Sini Ada Hantu.

I love the pairing of Bakri n whats-that-chinese-fella's-name. Maybe this can kick off ala Harold-Kumar's adventure stories.

But what I did not love about it was that its neither a horror or light-hearted comedy. Mencik filem yg sendiri tak tau nak jadi apa, lawak ka seram ka, ayyo!. Make up hantu cina tuh over badut la oit!

Blahla Wei!

It all started with this tweet:

I did not receive any reply n tweeted the 2nd time, leading to the following (baca dari bawah ke atas):

Geram plak ngan si Najwa (Got to Go nih!). Org tweet 2x, x jwb, tp bila org nk donload ja lagu dia... boleh plak komen ckp 'kejam'. N yg plg best, bila org puji, boleh plak RT.

Menyampah2 pun, lagu dia sedap gak. I won't deny a good song even if the artist is crap. Contohnya, entry yang lepas nih!

So, enjoy!

N today I learnt that if you protect your tweet, ppl who do not follow you can't see your tweets... he he he Now I know y my tweets r not answered, my faith is restored!

Tumbuk Sedut

Heck, I don’t even know what drew me to this movie. As a precaution, I rottentomatoed it first!

Though the rating failed, I went ahead with the watch, none the less.

I agree with the general comment that it has eye catching images but I don’t really care with the lack of plot and character building. I did not choose the movie for its storyline, I choose it because of the action, the images and hell it delivered all that.

I love Femme Fatale and though the movie is a bit confusing in the beginning, once you understand the transformation, you’ll start to get involve with Baby Doll and her friends.

If I’m a filmmaker, this is a kind of movie I wanna make, artful imageries well corresponding with its genre. Kalu action bior action betul n kalu nk lomantik, biar tangkap leleh betul2.

Go suck some punches!

...Dalam Sinema

Saya pernah menyoalkan kewajaran pembikinan filem …Dalam Botol ini, dahulu.

And here I go again, or to be precise, let me continue.

Maaf En OhBulan, saya tidak bersetuju dgn anda. Kurang bersetuju.

Keep some as a mystery.

(Surah ArRum: 41)

Kita mendoakan mereka di Aceh,

Kita menyumbang untuk mereka di Haiti,

Kita rasa terkesan bila Jepun pula dilanda Tsunami.

Kita menangisi pejuang Palestin,

Can You Keep A Secret?

I believe everyone has (at least) a secret.

That black book tucked away under the bed, the blurred box over the cupboard or even a dark side hid under that colorful persona you showcase every day.

Remember Desperate Housewives? Yes, the tv show. Before all those boring plot twists in hopes to relive its glory days? Season 1, that is. Alice (the voice over) killed herself because of a secret. A secret that, actually, kicked-off the whole show! She tried concealing it to her grave, but people eventually learned about it at the end. No, don’t ask me what was it. In TV land, 10 seasons (or is it more already?) is like a lifetime. By the 8th season, you start to forget the usual characters already, and why you liked them the most, even!

Have you read a book of the same title? Can You Keep a Secret. If not, please do. The writer was responsible for the Shopaholics saga (Sophie Kinsella). Yes, it’s in the chic’ genre, I know. Baiklah2, in my defense, I read it because my sister asked me to buy the book and before I gave it to her; I went through the first few pages. It was witty and a real page turner! I end up finishing the read. Ok, about the book. The story is about a girl, who got drunk (this is why Islam prohibits intoxication ya know) and blurted out every single secret she had to a stranger on a plane. Just because she was too afraid of flying she drank, a lot, to put her mind off. Classic to a chic’ book (not that I’m an expert or anything), the guy turned out to be her new boss. What ensued? Read the book!

Do you know what whistleblowing is? Its anti-secret keeping. But usually its used in corporate worlds to rat out on a fellow colleague but yes, believe me when I say, for the betterment of the company. Several corporate offenders have napped through the introduction of this law. Malaysia has also introduced the same law, a couple of months back.

So, what’s your secret? Mine is… janganlah harap nk bitau! Ha ha ha

Ok2, clue: working on a big hush-hush project for the eyes of a limited and selected number of audience only. Harap2 it pens out, good!

But, what is not a secret and I really like to tell people know, is, if you intend to share a secret with someone else, let’s not start with ‘Ko jgn bitau sapa2 k, aku bitau ko sorang je ni, janji?!’, or ‘bolehka aku percaya ko, aku nk bitau rahsia ni...’ RASA MCM NK SEPAK JA! (u can read as sepak like kepak or sepak like tepak sireh, both also can!).

The first statement just shows that you yourself are not a good keeper of secrets and yet you doubt people. If you’re a good ‘gatekeeper’, why tell? It also shows that you actually intend to share the secret with a few of your closest friend (only), not all friends you have. While the second statement just annoys people. If you don’t believe in him/ her, then why did you decide to release the secret in the first plan, than?!

Jadinya kawan2, biar pecah diperut, jangan pecah dimulut!!!

Oh MY Choos!

For those who followed the news, with the capital F in mind (Fashion that is), may have spotted the intention of our Datuk Jimmy Choo to buy back his shoe brand of the same name. High profilers are involved in this deal with Blair’s wife (Britain’s former premiere) as the counsel and Goldman Sachs Group Inc and Morgan Stanley as the investment banker in these take-over process. The price tag for the brand is about RM2.4bil (that’s a room full of Jimmy Choos, which price tag may fetch between RM2k to RM15k for a single pair). LVMH, who owns the LV brand and the Veuve Clicquot champagne, as well as the recently bought Bvlgari, is a stiff competion to the bid.

You can read more about this here.

For those who has little knowledge of the man himself, this Penangite, graduated from a London based fashion institution and was shot to fame, first, thanks to the late Lady Diana who wore his custom made shoes and had him as a dear friend (with an invitation to various Palace functions) during her long lived life.

Ironically the princess wore his design for nearly 7 years before the press started buzzing on the shoemaker himself, when more often than not, Lady Di’s evening shoes caught the world media’s attention.

Then came HBO’s tv series, the Sex and the City who captivated the audience with its plot and sell more shoes, clothes and accessories than Parkson or Isetan can! The tv show also helps catapulted a few brand name including the Choos.

In 1996, Tamara Mellon, the accessories editor of British Vogue, approached the bespoke shoe designer and helped launched the brand, a ready-to-wear shoe company bearing Datuk’s name and spotting his designs.

Though, the brand achieved huge success, a strain in the relationship of these two cofounders drew bigger resulting in Datuk selling his 50% stake at only RM50 million in 2001.

The brand continues to flourish under Tamara’s hand, partnering with, Sandra Choi, its creative director and a niece of Datuk’s wife and protégé.

The brand later developed into introducing its own bags and accessories line which were very successful and is mostly sought after.

The split however did not put an end to Datuk’s career where he continued running a discreet but ultra-expensive bespoke handmade shoe shop, under his own label Jimmy Choo Couture. Every custom made pair are crafted meticulously to perfection. The store is located on Connaught Street, West London.

Datuk also contributed in the academic world by mentoring young designer who one day hoped to have their names at the same forefront and enjoyed the same success he had basked in.

We rejoiced at Datuk’s plight to gain back the brand, however we hope it would not be a national agenda with the government involved as I think if we do have the fund (minus my tax refund waiting to be delivered of course) let’s invest in young designers as Datuk, Zang Toi, Bernard Chandran and others has already paved a path for other aspiring designer from this part of the continent. We see the likes of Thakoon and Prabal Gurung, repsentatives from Asia, becoming huge in the mainstream fashion world. Maybe one day, a Malaysian designer, will be the go to brand to dress up in a major event.

Pita Video S*ks

Nowdays everyone has one!

Daripada artis Hollywood (Paris n Kim), artis seberang (Ariel Peterpan), artis kita (ehem2x), pramugara, ahli politik antarabangsa dan ahli DUN anda sendiri!

Hollywood celebrities boast ratings with it,
Indonesia artist jailed for its distribution,
Our politician either admits and gets elected again (to a high post) or denies and becomes the mockery of our papers.

OMG!

Is sex tape, really, the new Polaroid? Agaknya nanti instead of letak gambo as profile picture dkt FB etc., you can download u’r own (guilty) pleasure videos. What has the world turn into?

I’m a strong believer of ‘private things should remain private’. So, parents, stream u’r kids video recorder and video players, put nannywatch softwares if you have to and kids (yes, we all are) think before you act(in front of the camera)!

Polka Dot Dress

Last night, Kate Winslett attended the Midred Pierce's NY Premier wearing a semi polka dot dress by Stella.

With polka dots, you can choice either to be hideous like Heidi 'the body' Klum,

chic' , in a jumpsuit, like Rihanna

cute like Jessica Simpson

or Kristin Davis

or you can even be breathtaking and revolutionary like what Chloe Sevigny did.

So, let's polka!!!

Respect Is Earned Not Gained

Pelikkan?

Two basic rules in business are:

Rule No 1 – Boss is always right
Rule No 2 – Follow Rule No 1

Walau macam mana teruk pun bos anda, sekurang-kurangnya respek la sikit (bukan berlebihan yar). Bos pulak, jangan melampau sampai hormat melayang ke luar tingkap!

Saya Terima Nikahnya...

Cuba2la b’solat sunat n tutup2 la apa2 yg patut, tapinya.

Jgn pulak sebegini, siap b’cumbu2an macam lepas ‘I Do’ n ‘Now u can kiss the bride!’ pulak... (diambil dari OhBulan)
